UPCOMING EVENTS & PROGRAMS

Our summer season officially begins with the opening of the Splash Land Complex on Monday, May 26.* A complete list of recreation programs, special events, aquatic offerings as well as facility information can be found in our 2025 Program & Facilities Guide. *due to local school calendars, we have shortened hours May 27-30, please see our guide for details*

Our Guide is available online at www.lenaparkdistrict.org or for pick up at the Lena Info Booth, Citizens State Bank the Lena Library, Village Hall and the Park Office.

PARK UPDATES & IMPROVEMENTS

  • Maintenance staff has all park shelter houses and washrooms open for the season
  • Be on the lookout this summer at Lions Park as Scout, Layla K., will be installing a Gaga Pit for her Eagle Scout Project
  • In collaboration with the Lena-Winslow Stadium Project, we have allowed a detention area just south of the existing track, near the Lions Park basketball court
  • Dodd’s Park dugout was completely rebuilt in time for Lena-Winslow High School games to take place, in addition to Lena Sports Association practices
  • Maintenance staff is working to prepare the Pool, Mini Golf Course, Snack Shop and the rest of the parks for a great summer season, which includes brush & tree clean up, power washing, deep cleaning, plumbing and electrical work.

PARK BOARD & STAFF NEwS

  • William (Bill) Wirtz re-elected in April to fulfill a 6-year term as Park Board Commissioner
  • Brayden Jacobs has been assigned the new Swim Lesson Coordinator
  • Our Management staff has completed hiring season help for the summer job openings. We received more applications than ever before and appreciate all local students who applied!
  • Sue Myers, Splash Land Manager, is beginning her 21st season this year!
  • Kim Baxter, Superintendent of Recreation, just celebrated her 3rd anniversary in March
  • Upcoming Board meetings, public welcome to attend; 6pm at the Park Office:

  • Summer Park office hours:
    • Mondays & Wednesdays, 9am-12pm
    • Thursdays, 4pm-6pm

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

  • Be a volunteer coach! Help us make our summer programs be successful with volunteering to help coach a team. Please indicate on your Summer registration form that you are interested and/or contact Kim Baxter, Supt. of Recreation, at recreation@lenaparkdistrict.org
  • Community Art Project: We are bringing a Rock Snake to Lena. Complete information can be found on page 1 of our
    Guide.

REMINDERS

  • It’s up to all of us to keep our parks clean! Trash must be thrown in cans and you must clean up after your pets
  • Dogs are required to be on leash at all times
